I’ve been mesmerized by John Malkovich’s performance as The New Pope. He brings such subtlety, elegance, humor and sorrow to the role. I can’t take my eyes off of him and that’s saying a lot ~ given such a large and talented ensemble of actors. Their artistry is also superb. And while I can’t believe I’m saying this about the title characters ~ but where Jude Law brings the sexy, John Malkovich brings a degree of eroticism that I wasn’t expecting. Beyond that is so much that entertains me outside of the interaction of the actors: the lighting, sound, colors, costumes, locations and music. Oh the music! That music really pulls me in and makes me roll right along with each scene. What more can I say other than I highly recommend it and it’s well worth watching more than once.
