Ok, so ignoring all the other differences from the book and the movie, in the book the kids are nice people who just where raised badly, and would rather be an orphan then keep living with their parents, so they send them on a dangerous vacation. But they don't harm anyone. The parents where the only ones hurt, but they had the choice to not go up the mountain. In the movie, the kids treat everyone horribly, even the people who did nothing to them. And I hated that.
