This is the best depiction of the intractable dreariness and monotony of drug addiction ever made. DC doesn’t give us the over the top caricature of Sinatra in “ Man with the golden arm” or other such movies… those depictions are fiction. DC is how it is; an endless quest to recapture a euphoria long since vanished. Drug addicts like the same things as other people; music , movies, tv … in this movie we get to watch them live a life like many ..,other then having to constantly procure drugs.
