An interesting film that highlights again the terror of the more possible than ever before the threat of a nuclear holocaust. Ukrainian war reminds us every day that a nuclear escalation is a real possibility. I think, there are 3 points needed to be marked. First, the hero resembles in many scenes Picky Blinders and it's unfair for the excellent Cillian Murphy. The director didn't protect him. Second, Einstein was presented as a caricature. The conversations between Oppenheimer and Einstein could be more to the point, Third, the film replicates the official US reasoning for Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Bombs were needed for the Japanese surrender. In reality, on 9 August 1945, the Soviet Union invaded the Imperial Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo and broke up within hours the Japanese defense lines. Hours later, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb, this time on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. Following all these events, Japanese leadership realized that the war was lost. Negotiations with allies (primarily US) led to the occupation of Japan in exchange for the emperor's remaining in power and the amnesty for most of the war crimes committed by the Japanese during WW2.
