The game was beautiful as expected and I loved the new additions. But I’ve got to say after waiting so long, preordering the collectors edition and was genuinely excited to play it. What the game provided me was disappointment. ***************** spoilers***************** Not only did a fan favorite die in the beginning of the game, he was killed in the most dumbest ways. Joel was going to die eventually, we understand. He has crossed a lot of people and done terrible things. But what was the purpose in that whole ordeal with hammering him with a golf club? And trusting strangers? Wasn’t his daughter killed by strangers and he was overly cautious to protect those around him? He just tells a whole group of strangers their names, and where their town was like it was nobody’s business. Joel was never that reckless, if he was to be killed then it could’ve been done better like Arthur from red dead. After murdering Joel, they decided to send Ellie on a pointless mission to get revenge, failed to do so, twice. As someone that would go above and beyond to save Joel, it would’ve been expected for her to actually kill Abby. But she doesn’t, and she lets her leave? In the end Ellie ended up alone, which was what she feared the most. It seems so pointless after the ending like we just wasted 30 hours (combined with the 10+ hours of unneeded storyline from Abby) On a side note, why would a game ever think that we would want to play as the antagonist?? To make her seem less evil? I skipped all her cutscenes because she had no impact on Ellie’s story, other than the death of Her father and the killing of Joel. Along with the Lev kid. It was unnecessary. Like they were trying to create a bond that Joel and Ellie has but unsuccessfully. The kid and the antagonist was unlikeable. Playing her for 10 hours would not change our mind that she was a terrible character. This was a waste of money and time, would probably reconsider before preordering the collectors edition next time. But I guess we all assumed that a sequel to an amazing game was gonna be just as amazing with new graphics, we were just introduced with better graphics, better gameplays and a terrible story line. Do better.
