I really enjoyed MOST of this story. However, reading early in the first chapter that using the Dardanelles “cut weeks off a sea voyage from London to Bombay by avoiding the African Horn” spoiled the whole experience for me. Does she not know that the only places you can go via the Dardanelles are the Mediterranean & the Black Seas? Neither are Anywhere near the Horn of Africa, but the Red Sea (the obvious alternate route) is. Unless she means the Cape of Good Hope.....
