I am in love with this game. That statement doesn't mean much if you don't know me.
I'm just a casual gamer who occasionally plays on their day off to relax.
I love story rich games like the Last of Us, Mass Effect, and Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2. I thought I hated turn based combat type games and I havent played one since Final Fantasy 8 & 10 when I was a kid. I initially wrote this game off because it was turn based and focused on the release of Starfield. I won't get into it here but I haven't been so disappointed in a game in a long time.
Needing something to wash the bad taste out of my mouth, I decided to give BG3 a hesitant try. My expectations were low but the game had been out for a bit and players loved it, so I figured I could overcome my own pet peeves.
I had no idea what I was doing, I made a lot of mistakes and missed so much because of those mistakes. I died a lot. But you know what? I enjoyed every minute of it. I bumbled my way through act 1 and 2, before i realized how much i had really missed out on, including a companion. So I decided to start all over again, this time as The dark urge, and it is like playing a whole new game.
I love the companions so much, they all have so much depth and their personal quests are rich and full of complex emotion.
I have played this game as if it were a part time job for a month and a half and I'm nowhere near the end (since I started over). The best part is that when I do finish I can Start again as an origin character, or make opposite choices and have a whole new experience.
