While Perkins was excellent at creating eerie atmosphere with great shots and sound, the actual story failed to deliver. There's very little explained about Longlegs himself, his psychology, motivations, or his history. It's a simple "the devil made me do" cliche. He is insane to the point that I'm not sure how he has been able to function in society to fulfill his basic needs much less purchase the materials he needs to make his hyper realistic "voodoo dolls". By the end we know someone close to the female lead has been providing and aiding him but it does not account for all the murders committed up to their meeting. Being a horror lover I have no qualms about demons and possession movies but the supernatural element introduced here I feel hurt more than helped. The evil humans do of their own free will is infinitely more terrifying but I guess an infernal ex machina was needed to make a severely mentally unstable man a murderer without actually killing anyone. The devil robbed the movie of any potential for depth. Credit to Cage though. I'm not sure many actors could act so ridiculously unhinged in the few scenes he has. It was almost too cringe to be funny. The female lead is desperately trying to channel Clarice starling and it doesn't work. She comes off as too socially inept and skittish to even get through the FBI academy. The marketing for this movie was so much better than the movie itself.

I am in love with this game. That statement doesn't mean much if you don't know me. I'm just a casual gamer who occasionally plays on their day off to relax. I love story rich games like the Last of Us, Mass Effect, and Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2. I thought I hated turn based combat type games and I havent played one since Final Fantasy 8 & 10 when I was a kid. I initially wrote this game off because it was turn based and focused on the release of Starfield. I won't get into it here but I haven't been so disappointed in a game in a long time. Needing something to wash the bad taste out of my mouth, I decided to give BG3 a hesitant try. My expectations were low but the game had been out for a bit and players loved it, so I figured I could overcome my own pet peeves. I had no idea what I was doing, I made a lot of mistakes and missed so much because of those mistakes. I died a lot. But you know what? I enjoyed every minute of it. I bumbled my way through act 1 and 2, before i realized how much i had really missed out on, including a companion. So I decided to start all over again, this time as The dark urge, and it is like playing a whole new game. I love the companions so much, they all have so much depth and their personal quests are rich and full of complex emotion. I have played this game as if it were a part time job for a month and a half and I'm nowhere near the end (since I started over). The best part is that when I do finish I can Start again as an origin character, or make opposite choices and have a whole new experience.
