THIS BOOK. Istg I was never more scarred yet in full love with this book. It’s like a toxic relationship that you just keep coming back to.
Btw, to summarize the alrdy hooking plot, our mc is Kim Dokja, and he reads this one novel for his whole ten years since 8th grade, because…yea. And it ends today. A few minutes later, the whole world is basically ending, and weird enough, everything is occurring, just like the novel KDJ read… so uh now he knows how the worlds ending, and it all goes from there.
So I’m gonna try my best to not spoil it. One of the things that made me fall in love with ORV was the highlight of companionship, and our boy Dokja would do any to keep that together. You get to see it with the trio YJH, KDJ, and HSY, as well as the Kimco all together. But let’s focus on the mc, or more rightfully known as the reader, Kim Dokja. In the beginning of this story, i took him to be some loner (literally a play on his name that is bitterly true, look it up) who does nothing but read novels.
He has no attatchments with anything other than stories in the beginning. I don’t know why, but there was smth that made me side with him, even as he gave selfish thoughts abt just trying to survive and not help others, even knowing how the world would end. I notice tho, that throughout the course of the story, of him meeting his future companions, he begins to change by heart, and his will to survive was ready to give it all up to save his companions. It’s a huge word replayed in this story, and at first, I found it hilarious how he kept being able to make his situation light, while his companions were desperately trying to save him.
But over time, I realized that he really was alone, and it was heartbreaking how this guy had SO MUCH TRAUMA that related to how he was today. And it replayed thoughts I had alrdy had, including his attachment to the novel. KDJs salvation is so beautiful but heart wrenching, as he tries to hide it all from his companions and burdens the weight of it all on his shoulders. It made me sob everytime he gave a smile in the novel. LITERALLY BLACKBOX (webnovel illustrator) DRAWS HIM SAD AND THEN DRAWS HIM IN THE SAME SCENE MAKING HIM SMILE TO THE VIEWER AS IF HES SAYING EVERYTHING IS FINEEEE :(
Orv ends in a cliffhanger suggesting that the story isn’t over yet, SO I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THE ORV FANDOM IS DESPAIRING. LIKE BRO HES ALIVE STFU. Ofc, it’s totally okay to have angst on this story since KDJ totally suffered….and made everyone suffer with him.
I really, really will never part with this story, as it made me tear up. All I hope is that he finally lives on the bliss he deserves. It’s a beautiful story and it pulls heart strings. You can find the novel in epub links, and read the side stories at some point too (haven’t been officially translated) Also read the Webtoon adaptation. While still being in progress, this has some awesome art and captures the webnovel really well.
Anyways, that was my review fellow readers. See you all later.
