Best since Black Album because it feels authentic & raw wether it is James getting uncomfortable and release his true emotional feeling, Kirk getting back to being more creative, Rob being fully integrated and even taking a stab at background singing, and Lars stepping up his drum fills and variety all together you can tell they really came together as a unit and bonded over what just organically came out. Greg does his best work keeping them focused and bringing the ideas to live in his masterful production. Only nitpick is they should have cut 2 of songs (Barbwire & Shadows) to keep the balance of the tonal “journey” pace or swapped them out for a gentler piece or heck even a speed demon. Either way the complaint is too many mid tempo. But overall loving 10 of the 12 tracks with most of them not just being great studio tracks but you can tell most are gonna kill it on the live stage. Now go listen to it 72 times. Long live the gods of metal!
