Enjoyed the photogenic food and the range of behaviors between family members. The efforts and complications of the 3 daughters finding a path from intense tradition brings to mind Fiddler on the Roof.

I found this film provocative, challenging, disturbing, insightful, though rarely funny. In my view, xenophobic, isolationist, racist leaders are now in both dictatorships and in nations with sometimes flawed elections. The film showed that many issues raised by the protagonist AH are attractive again or still in modern Germany. Can a person get elected by appealing to baser ideas and fears? Unfortunately yes, again and again.
