Watching the first episode, I was immediately disappointed at the fact that they didn’t show any of the basic training or flight training that these men went through. In shows like Band of Brothers that’s how we really got to know the characters well, and get an emotional attachment to them. I don’t remember any names other than Buck and even then I don’t feel an emotional connection to the characters at all. The show itself isn’t that bad, but if you have watched shows like Band of Brothers or the Pacific, you would definitely know that this show does not meet to their standards. I’d love to watch our characters train to be pilots, customize their planes, and slowly watch them progress to becoming air crew men and doing missions after that. It feels rushed. I think it would be cooler if the show felt more like the movie Memphis belle, where the characters in the show would fly their first mission, seeing the brutality of fighting in the air, and being stunned by how many planes were lost, driving them to a point of being terrified when told they are being sent back to a heavily defended target.
