I saw a summer stock rendition of this play. Having seen the awards and accolades it received, I was hoping to see something good. But it was torturous, repetitious, and self indulgent. The subject matter of an uncle lusting for his young niece is repetitively recounted in a series of non sequential flashbacks. But the story line never progresses, there is no compelling narrative. It just beats your over the head, 'bad uncle', confused niece, dysfunctional family, rinse and repeat. The dialog was simplistic, characters one dimensional. No idea what the awards were for, maybe it was considered illuminating of social issues which don't get proper attention. No one in my party liked it, and was relieved when it was over.
