It was a series so painful to watch that it took me more sittings than the number of episodes to binge-watch. 5 stars for the plot (the book must be awesome) and 1 star for the dialogues and character portrayal (Hollywood is now selling American Nightmare 🥲). 2 stars for rushing through the explanations and casual handling of grave situations tossed with immediate and sloppy solutions. The build-up and all the information often leads to anticlimactic scenarios.
The entire show seemed rushed and the dialogues were plain sloppy. I was abhorred by the portrayal of the scientific community. And it is with entire Hollywood shows these days. The calm controlled and patient thinkers are shown as bumbling, obnoxious, rude and emotion-pouring people which is fine till the audience starts catching up on the plot and predicting it before the so-called scientists shown in the show. Maybe we have grown more intelligent after watching the last TV show 😜. Or it's just a Netflix show of fancy images and distasteful characters and dialogues.
While I was on the 8th episode and life seemed meaningless I started the first book on Audible, it's slow-paced but awesome. Ye Wenjie's character has depth in her character and Da Shur is simply like Naruto coming up with strange effective solutions. I rooted for these two characters. Currently on the more awesome second book 🤩. Won't and can't spoil the show with spoilers, since the storyline is different in the series. 😉
If the Hollywood portrayal is acceptable to you then it can be a great Sci-Fi show for you.
