Funnily enough, the goal of the villain (Dar-Benn) of this film is pretty similar to the goal that President Skroob and Dark Helmet from Spaceballs had. Between this and Spaceballs, Spaceballs is the better film as the Marvels is below average (though I liked it more than the original Captain Marvel film). It's not awful like Antman 3 or the Eternals, but I wasn't marveled with the movie (pun totally intended). The most exciting part of the film was the mid-credits scene, TBH, as the rest of the film felt like it was painting by the numbers.
Brie Larsen and Samuel L. Jackson were the best actors in this film. I totally forgot name of the villain of the movie before writing this review. If I needed to look up the villain after finishing the film so I could write this review, it's a bad sign for a movie villain. But yeah, the villain was written to be "sympathetic" due to various details of the movie that I won't spoil, but I felt more sympathy for the villains of Spaceballs due to them being more entertaining than Dar-Benn.
On the plus side, the movie treated Nick Fury much better than his own show did, so it automatically gets at least 2 Stars at the least. However, it's on the lower half of Marvel movies on my overall tier list. Maybe wait until your theater has a discount ticket day before watching it if you absolutely need to go watch it.
But yeah, Lightyear is to Interstellar as the Marvels is to Spaceballs. I was entertained by it, but it didn't leave much of an impression on me afterward (besides the single mid-credits scene).
