I was expecting to love this book. Instead I found it disjointed and even disturbing The author unfortunately seems to “hate”everyone. Except for Chona and Dodo. But he writes very disparagingly about Jews and Chona is Jewish. And why call a major character, a child with hearing loss, Dodo. Very unflattering and puzzling. Not to mention the minor characters. Maybe his other novels are more compassionate and substantial
