Suffered through all 500 pages, the characters are empty and seem to have no more personality traits than "quirky nerd" or "mysterious". The story is meandering with any direction it may have had getting lost halfway through the book. It is built on metaphors but they fail to be explained in any way whatsoever and thus loose their importance. Also, Zachary and Dorians "love" fails to be anything more than the "these two characters are gay so they need to be in love" trope. I failed to see anything they had in common, or could have had in common as they seemed to have no real interests other than vague stories.
