Only reason I didn’t give it 1 star is because the acting was great. However, I just cannot empathize with the main character. Her actions were straight up lunacy. If there was some actual evidence before she started all of the craziness then maybe I’d be able to empathize. But no. The entire premise is just based on her “feeling” like its her daughter. Yada yada mother’s intuition. I’m sorry, but in the real world having a feeling about something is not enough reason to break into a person’s home and terrorize their family.
Yes, I get it. She was right all along and Lola really was Rosie. Would’ve been a much more satisfying ending (and story all around) if there was actual proof of it. Yes I know the blonde lady ended up admitting to it, but that was after all of the lunacy. I’m talking about at least having some type of evidence before that (other than just looking like her, which btw she doesn’t and Lola/Rosie actually resembles the woman that stole her more).
And last thing which annoyed the hell out of me and I don’t see brought up enough. Are we just going to ignore the fact that she was neglecting her son for the entirety of this movie to go chase a gut feeling? Seriously the only character I really felt for during this was her son (and the dad for wanting what was best for his son). In his pov, he has to live half the time with a mother that would rather chase after the illusion of a child she lost 7 years ago than take care of the child she still has.
Honestly, I just wish it ended with her actually being wrong about it all and terrorizing a poor innocent family. A plot twist isn’t satisfying if there isn’t any actual evidence pointing towards it.
