I couldn't get past the first 20 pages. I picked it up because the cover was kinda spooky and mysterious. I read reviews before buying on the Barnes and Noble site, and I also pick a random page to read a couple paragraphs to see if I'm interested. The reviews were mixed but the page I picked seemed to pull me in. I decided to bring the book home.
Well, the first 20 pages didn't have much dialogue. It was all a description of a description of a description down to the tiniest detail and I was so lost. The author chose to show off how many filler words he could pull out his his rear from the dictionary instead of showcasing his storytelling abilities. Since I spent on this book, I'm going to try. I will try to give it another chance, but it was painful the first time around so I'm not sure how successful I'll be on the second attempt. It was bad. Where is the actual story? How long does it take to get me to something worthwhile that doesn't give me a headache?
Just cause you use 50 fancy filler words in one paragraph doesn't mean it's a good paragraph. I will try again and give it a fair shot, bit ill be honest the book fell under my bed and I haven't missed it or bothered to get it out yet.
