I read this review (I’ll attach below) and found it to be so true. As a middle school teacher, kids need to be able to name all their emotions and this movie made a blanket statement of so many things as just “anxiety” and painted such a negative extreme of it. A line of the movie at one point was literally “I guess joy starts to go away as you get older”. It also was stressful to watch and much too complex for children under 13. I can’t imagine having to explain this to a kinder or preschooler who thought it would be like the first movie :(
review:
I’m a 13 year old child and this movie gave me the most anxiety I’ve had in my life. It was utterly awful. I feel like it portrayed what is was trying to completely wrong and the message was unclear. Yes there were some funny parts but otherwise it was stressful and had a poor plot. The animation was great though. To me it portrayed that when you go through puberty you become stupid and therefore are aloud to make bad decisions and hurt others because of that with no consequences— which I think it stupid. If you wanna watch it, watch it at home. I hated it and would be glad if I never saw it again. :|
