It was hard to read this book, not hard as in I struggled to enjoy it. But hard because it highlighted so many raw truths. Not many people delve into the truth surrounded with mental heath, abuse and self harm but Kathleen has definitely hit it on the head with this book.
I struggle with mental health and in the past have struggled with self harm. So reading this was indeed, a bitter-sweet comfort. It took me a little while to get through it because it was raw at points, for me anyway. I think this is a beautiful book for anyone past their recovery point.
Only reason I left four stars was the style in which the book is laid out. Breaks in the story, not necessarily chapters. But that could just be me being picky (haha). But also I would have loved to have met Ellis (even though the ending gave me goosebumps)
