I've watched this movie 3 times; I think it is brilliant. It truly reflects american post WW2 manners and mores (I was born 1946). The characters are beautifully drawn - right down to the milkman. The narrative could be any number of post WW2 women; including my own mom. People didn't 'share' or 'air' their dirty laundry, AA was in its infancy and women were oppressed beyond belief. I had to wear dresses or skirts to school - then college - then work. This dress 'code' wasn't changed until the very late sixties. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
