This is a very interesting and informative book about muzzleloading rifles. John is a friend. He has studied and lived the history of colonial America to a greater extent than anyone I know. If you have seen Last of the Mohicans with Daniel Day Lewis, John pretty much embodies Hawkeye. I also love shooting and hunting with flintlock rifles. There is something truly unique and beautiful about the flintlock ignition system for firearms which lasted a few hundred years. Caplocks were around for a short time before breech loading firearms took over.
It has been immensely satisfying to harvest several deer with my flintlock rifle. Something our forefathers relied upon for survival.
If you have any interest in the subject, this is a really fun read!!
