It's a social critique. We humans are constantly being controlled, placated, distracted, given things to fear... so we don't have to see the real end coming for us all. The supermarket is the core of our consumer behaviour, has everything we are told we should want to live a normal life. But mostly capitalism is indifferent to each of us, isn't it?
