The main thing being said about this character is that Ray is not relatable. People who are inherently social and can small talk without overthinking every word of the sentence they speak might not find anything out of it. But people who socialise as a break from their routine of living in their head for a while , semi-ugly, socially awkward , self aware person trying to navigate appropriate social behaviour trying not to embarrass themselves but royally doing so every time opening their mouth can relate. This is not my first show, definitely not the first character i absolutely loved, but could relate on more levels than any other thing I've seen . Its like you are being seen and people can see why you behave the way you do. Having money and rich parents do not automatically guarantee you a great life that is not full of self loathing-self sabotaging. Guess it targeted a particular kind of audience , touched new subject and it is difficult for few people to understand that it actually happens with people in real life.
