I wanted to like the acolyte, I had high hopes for it. It looked very cool to me. I read a ton of the high Republic books and actually thoroughly enjoyed them, some of them are incredible books, because of that, i could not Wait to watch the acolyte. I turned it on and the first scene was very cool, I had high hopes.... And then those hopes quickly faded as the show for worse and worse with cheesey and clunky dialogue. This show is unnecessarily campy, painfully, it is clear to me that the Creator must be a fan of doctor who, because that's what it feels like with the atrocious dialogue. People want to say the prequels have bad dialogue? Nobody will be saying that ever again after watching the acolyte. The character "OSHA" (better watch out on the work place or they'll come get you) approaches a Jedi and then goes into a ridiculous anime style Jo Jo pose, then says "attack me with all your might". Cringe. The show is visually beautiful, but the dialogue is so bad that it feels like a low budget scifi channel series. I want to clarify, I was one of those star wars fans that would forgive and defend ANYTHING star wars that came out, I would find a way to justify all of it, claiming it is all good. Not the Acolyte. This show has officially ruined star wars for me, I am done with it, I will no longer be wasting any of my money on anything star wars related, it is over. Cancelling my Disney Plus as well. By the way, my complaints about the show have nothing to do with the casting, the crew, the diversity, none of that is an issue to me, it is the god-awful writing.
