An excellent film, but probably not for everyone.
It's a character study drama, but also, if you pay attention, a murder mystery. It doesn't spoonfeed the audience, so active viewing is required to get the most out of this film.
It is a bit slow, which didn't bother me at all but don't expect a typical American film, it isn't. It is, however, typical of Jane Campion, who wrote and directed the film, and if you liked her previous work, you will most likely enjoy this one as well.
Excellent performances of the wonderful cast, and visually beautiful as well. Interesting avant-garde music by Jonny Greenwood, and tasteful editing.
Recommended, if you don't mind films that move a bit slower than the norm.
