Felix – Google

This is a coming-of-age film about a girl who fancies herself a photojournalist. It's not an action movie. It's not a war movie. Unless you're interested in her story, there's nothing here to justify losing two hours of your life. The action shots are reserved to the last 30 mins, and they're not worth the wait. Civil War is empty. It's devoid of any substance. It's predictable. Some nice cinematography.

Charming. Refreshingly well done. A largely flawless production - a fun, colourful dramatisation of J.G. Farrell's novel. The cast are mostly excellent; the characters are brought to life as faithfully as they can be. The locations, set designs, costumes - all outstanding. Unlike most series in a while, The Singapore Grip has a unique and infectious character. Surprised and a bit depressed to see the negative reviews - probably borne out of too high expectations for the adaptation, or betraying a refusal ever to be impressed by this sort of colonial drama.

Pretty poor. The cast do as best as they can with insufferable characters. Still, there's little to redeem 2:22 A Ghost Story, at least for anyone who has more than a rudimentary appreciation of good writing. Line after line is predictable. Whatever social commentary the play seeks to make, the dialogue is shallow and fails to achieve anything besides on occasional laugh. The noises-on-the-baby-monitor trope is tired and largely irrelevant to the plot. True, the resolution of the plot is unexpected, but it's still dissatisfying. It's barely a 'ghost story'. The only jumps here are perhaps four or five loud noises that contribute absolutely nothing to the story. No idea why people rave about this. An evening of my life mostly wasted. The wine was awful too.
