This movie is evocative and thoroughly steeped in local culture and folklore. The colours and the way it was captured was emotive and beautiful. I couldn’t take in the scenes entirely, each frame was filled with nature and brimming with a rawness that reflected the untamed forest. I am in awe of the beauty and art that lies in something so simple as stirring a pot of bubbling meen kolambu. The casual mention of Veerapan, to specially draw attention to the plight of the people fighting for their rights. No detail is too small. Every drop of blood is exacted in return of the same. Every character was etched carefully. Shiva broke my heart in the last few minutes of the movie. His hot bloodedness turns into this immense outpouring of love, truly divine and symbolic. The father and son dance will remain in my memory as one of the most emotional scenes I’ve ever seen. This movie is truly amazing.
