I did not know, going into this movie, that it was based on real life. Finding out at the end that it was real was a surprise! I think the actors were excellently cast, Anna Kendrick almost typecast as her normal self but perfectly relatable in her sensibilities. Her character provided a relief that her intelligence and self-awareness was going to be a shield for her against danger and falsehoods. So, very sadly, the victims didn’t seem to have that shield up, they were just kind people distracted by whatever was in their minds at the moment: moving into an apartment, sight-seeing, etc. The actor portraying Rodney was brilliantly scary and so charismatic. I wanted to re-watch the restaurant scene again with Anna when she realizes she is being manipulated. I almost thought he would break down her shield before her realization happened. So scary! And the parking lot scene was agonizing! Well done thriller, and so very sad that it was based on a true story of a psychopath. RIP to all the victims and my heart goes out to their families.
