Look, I'm all for one to support new, innovative and interesting twists to reboots of classics shows like Scooby Doo, but ONLY if it's well-written, smart, funny, and progressive in all other fields of story-telling that matter. Unfortunately, this new "Velma" reboot is anything BUT those. The main character being a re-imagined version of the classic Velma character, (who is Indian in this, which is not a bad thing in and of itself), is a very bitter, self-absorb, stuck-up anti-social snob who may or may not be in love with her on/off again former friend Daphne, who in this show is re-imagined as Asian, but still keeps her orange hair. Shaggy is Black and named someone else, and Fred is made to appear as a toxic spoiled, white-privileged incompetent man-child who can't do anything for himself without help. You can tell that whoever made this show obviously has it in for anyone being a whit male, regardless of their background. The only thing in this show that's not TECHNICALLY bad/ depressing, but doesn't do the show any justice for the betterment is the race swapping of the main characters for some reason. The plot where Velma tries to find her mom takes a big step backwards in terms of relevance. Overall, definitely NOT a show I'd waste my time trying to enjoy
