I just Lanthimos. He is by far the most imaginative director working in the mainstream at the moment. His 'The Lobster' is certainly my fave film of the decade. And the Favourite, whilst more accessible, is just as good. I think this maybe the first movie about royals i have ever enjoyed. Usually they are so conformist, glorifying hereditary power, engaged in trying to convince that they are people just like you or me - in other words a form of brainwashing. I thought this movie was gorgeous, showing what happens to people when they are so privileged, and how it affects they were they act and think. But the acting was phenomenal, and I loved the mis-en-scene. The dark corridors were so what an early modern palace would have been like. Unmissable.
