fallout will forever be the best video game series and i’ll tell you why.
the amount of attention to detail that has been put not only into the base game but into the DLC is incredible. there is ample amount of space/locations to explore and loot, as well as hours of gameplay within nuka world. as always within fallout (up until ‘76), there is plenty room for choice as far as decision making.
i love that the lore of fallout is expanded within nuka world. everything comes together and makes sense (vault-tec’s evil motives for example) and there are no plot holes. reading terminals and listening to holotapes as well as just examining scenes tells a story, and is very captivating for the player. the realism of the lore is insane when compared to modern times as well, which is fascinating.
the subliminal hinting of nukes and the whole retro-futuristic style of nuka world is genius. the way that it compares to disney world is also pretty cool due to the familiarity of it, but it also has its own twist, being the focus on nuka cola and it’s variants—as well as hints of possible nuclear annihilation.
i wish games/DLCs were still made like this. attention to detail and effort instead of micro transactions. i’ve played every single fallout game and don’t have a favorite, yet Fallout 4 and its DLCs have really succeeded at keeping the player entertained with extensive lore and gameplay without robbing them of money for pointless cosmetics.. *ahem* (‘76, call of duty, etc.)
i loved 3 and new vegas for the gameplay and lore, but 4 took all of that and transformed it with modern day graphics that are truly realistic.
overall, nuka world is a must-buy for a fallout player or anyone of that matter—hours of gameplay and captivating lore. WELL worth the money, as this was created back when video game companies actually cared about producing quality content for players.
