TLDR: This is NOT a series, but a collection of short stories/ideas played out on your TV (or whatever your method of consumption). Think of it as an art project but with possible real-life projects because as I understand it they use it as a way to gauge consumer interest in seeing these shorts turned into full-length films or shows.
Now let's talk about some episodes.
1. Rakka - Overall was fairly good. I like the concept and really enjoyed the way they conveyed the bluntness of our reality. Post-apocalyptic society will undoubtedly see the rise of sociopaths and psychopaths as they will have societal usefulness in ways most do not want to imagine. The reptilian overload trope was tastefully explored and understandably terrifying. The only true critique I have deals solely with differences in how I see us trying to do things given the same situation thereby making my ideas completely subjective.
2. Firebase - WOW! This film was amazing! The line about "Life itself" making way for him was absolute poetry. The dichotomy between the farmer and the soldier was razor-sharp. I even kinda dig how it's set up and taking place during Vietnam as it is a gut-wrenching backstory to creating the antagonist. This film I'd love to see become a full-length feature one day.
3. Cooking with Bill - Good attempt at touching that 80's nostalgia with the late-night infomercials with spot-on acting. Not too big a fan of the products if I'm honest but that could be because hair in my mouth is my 2nd grossest thing next to sand lol.
4. God - An interesting take to the saying that God is nothing more than a kid with an ant farm (or something close to that)
5. Zygote - "Alien meets The Island" This is another I'd be interested in seeing hit the big screen. The monster was a thing of true horror. I'd love to learn the complete story of how it was created whether it was something extraterrestrial or maybe biologic. Fingers crossed on this one.
That's all I have for now but am looking forward to watching and reviewing the rest.
