TLDR: The book stemmed to far away from its original premise of soccer and was so cliche that the book itself could be considered a parody at that point.
Good heavens. The fact that I even got to the end of this book is one of the most miraculous things, comparable to the resurrection of Jesus Christ himself. In all seriousness, the book's main premise of soccer was completely ignored. On the cover, there is a soccer ball, impling that this book will be about soccer. However, throughout the 350 pages of the book, only around 10-15 actually about soccer. The rest of the pages are filled with dramatic nonsense that I did not want to hear.
Furthermore, the book's story is so cliche that it could have been classified as plagraism. Moreover, I could predict the end of the book from page five. For instance, we heard around the first page that the main character's parents were arguing on the phone. This immeadietly made me assume that the main character's parents would in fact separate. Next thing you know, they separate. I understand if you wanted to stem away from the main premise of soccer (even thought it should be the primary premise of the book, which is evident by the soccer ball at the cover), however the extremely unoriginal story makes it so unbearable at some points.
In conclusion, this book is unoriginal and may have been written based upon a template found online. I've heard that the author's other book, "Crossover" is the exact same except with a premise of basketball, and pictures. Perhaps if the author also added pictures to "Booked," I would've given this book a two star review. I feel very bad for the trees cut down and the subsequent oxygen wasted to print this pile of waste impostering as a book. Value your time and do not read this book.
