I am watching Morning Live this morning and very upset about the subject State Pension, you are not really telling the truth. If you worked and paid the full stamp you will receive Earnings Related Pension. You did not mention £ 185.00 was the basic and would be topped up with Earnings Related. I retired in January 2007 and I manage on my State Pension, you only spend what you have. Live within your means. I am worried this year about Heating costs so I am paying a bit extra each month to hope to cope.
