Exceptional concept for a movie, but unrealistic and David Ayer didn't pull it off. Most U.S. scams occur outside of the U.S. in India, Nigeria, and Myanmar (through the Chinese Mafia). These attacks often do take from the elderly, and some people have committed suicide. Foreign hackers have stolen an estimated $4.5B from the U.S. this year.
The movie is overly action-packed and unrealistic. Someone should make a movie about the truth.
It was entertaining and Jason Statham is great, but you had to completely suspend reality to enjoy it. If Ayer told the truth, he would have made a better movie.
