When a student hurls this unplayable question at Keith Michaels (#HughGrant) a washed-up screenwriter who has unwillingly taken up a teaching job just to do away with the financial hassles he's facing, he is clueless. The Rewrite is a subtle, a bit slow yet connectable story of a one time wonder Hollywood screen writer struggling to make his ends meet and eventually taking up a Teaching job, something which he hates for he believes that - 'Writing is a talent and hence can't be taught'. Hugh's character of a divorced guy, is sharp in his sarcasm filled words. He has his own set of reservations, untill...
The story is simple yet emotions are pretty much layered. Use of dark humour here and there, did fetch my attention being a humour enthusiast. The movie is sluggish but not a waste. If you are inclined towards teaching profession, this movie shall definitely interest you.

(PS-As a professor, I keep finding ways to connect with my students. It is difficult, because you can't always read their minds and so sometimes you may have to catch up with them by reading their faces. Being teacher ain't easy.
