I'm not Christian or religious, so I don't wear glasses tinted by either... so to me, this is full of child abuse. Especially the emotional kind. I hate Kim the most. Notice I say Kim rather than the mother. I find it hard to acknowledge this women as a mother, she's awful.
You know, I lived with a Christian family once. They weren't related to me. I met their daughter when she was a missionary (not JW), and they took us in when we had nowhere to go. They were very religious, and had a lot of children. They also couldn't be more different than this family. They were wonderful. They didn't try to block their children from the world; instead the parents lived by example. They went to church every Sunday, they prayed before every meal and before bed, the home was filled with books they'd bought that they approved of but no book was banned, they participated in church charity and went to every church event, their children could come to them about seemingly any problem for advice, they went on family bike rides, playing board games together was the norm, they all had access to the internet, and the children went to public school. Pretty much every child remained a part of the same faith into adulthood, and was in regular and entirely willing contact with their parents.
But with the family in this show I'd be entirely unsurprised if all the children cut contact with their parents at some point. So toxic.
However, I will say this family isn't all bad, I see some good moments.
(Secular) Therapy would do them all good, as well as more freedom.
