This movie was a poignant look at dynamics that have existed in the gay community for decades. At it's core, this is an analysis of the closeted man who objectifies and exploits gay men/ trans women/ and the gender identities within. Something that happens every single day in our society but is not discussed or talked about in main stream culture at all. Heteronormative people may not understand these dynamics in the very thoughtful way they were expressed here, but as a gay man myself I thought there was so much care taken with the story, and every bit of it made sense from a gay man's perspective. ***Spoiler*** I did so wish that it ended happier, I wanted Jules to find love with this man - But the tenor of the movie wouldn't have allowed for this happiness because truly so very few of us find happiness when we dabble with "straight" men. It is a complete impossibility, but I would love a sequel where time passes and Jules reconnects with him, and they find their way back to a passionate romance. These two characters obviously still exist in the same neighborhood, so it left me with so many questions at the end about what happened moving forward.
