Dennis Novak

the author not only tells an amazing story, but he takes care to place it in historic context. though it tends to bog down a bit here and there when the lives of the characters seem to be of almost monotonous hardship, it is, overall, very well written and ends up a quick read. and if you don't already know the story, there's a surprise near the end.
