Visually the movie holds up to A24 well known esthetic and that is great. However there is no substance to the story and I wish I never saw the tv glow. I think the writer / director focus too much on looks and the writing is a lot of tell not show. Too bad I was looking forward to this since I saw it's trailer.

Here's the thing: let's say you read the Harry Potter books and your excited to see the movies. But when you watch the movies it's not about Harry, it's about 5 people who built the school and their families, friends, and Harry is just some footnote. That's how this 3 body series is, most of the main characters in the book are side notes or non existent. If you read the books, you probably won't like this series that much. If you haven't read the books, you probably will like it.
