This book was my favorite book of all time as a child, and maybe even now. It is a must read for all children. Every moment, flashback, serious moment, lame joke, sad moment is so hooking it wows me. It's perfect in almost every way, and how it is not based around only immature jokes is amazing. Loved it. Probably the first books I'm giving a five star. Illustrations by Quentin Blake aren't perfect but are very nice. The writing is perfect and this book cannot be used to put you to sleep at night. You'll stay awake till you finish it. Season one was fantastic, the rest were passable. Season one has fantastically created the dream 80s atmosphere. The elements such as the unknown lingering evil, the kids, the mysterious girl, all contribute to a well made show by Netflix. The visuals are beautiful, the characters are lively, distinguishable and likable, and the antagonists are scary, both the human and supernatural elements. For season 2, 3 and 4 Netflix may have tried to replicate the same magic, but we're lost in fan service for season 2. It felt underwhelming, there were barely any new characters, and the ones introduced like Max were tasteless and boring. Season 3 and 4 were a little better, though they got a little bit ambitious. Season 4 had a good build to the final villain but had an extremely underwhelming finale, sacrificing the new character that had potential to grow, and having the kids save the world yet another day. Hopefully Netflix will deliver a better season 5.

My favorite book by David Walliams. Set around a few years in the past, this book can be held from children from the age of 8 to higher. I love the relationship between Jack and Grandpa, and the funny parts of everything and how the little adventures are so gripping. As a child I came home and my sister gave me this book as she went to the library so she bought this book for me. I was not very impressed by the cover or even the synopsis but when I started reading I was gripped. 5 stars must read!
