This is a pretty good one-time watch. At parts, the lead characters, especially Jang Na Ra simply nails it.
A detailed analysis:
First coming to the positives:
1. The casting is just excellent. The on-screen chemistry is phenomenal.
2. The son, even being absent, was the central plot of the entire show. Giving the dead so much importance, just made the show lively.
3. Daniel Pitt was a very good addition. His storyline with Jang Na Ra was pretty well crafted, except at one point!
4. Se Ra played her little role in a seamless manner.
5. Most importantly, shows of similar genres have always shown the male being a narcissist and humiliating the woman. But, this one was the complete opposite. Jang Hyuk was so warm from the start and extremely supportive. Such a pleasure to watch Jang Hyuk really caring for Jang Nara, even though it was a forced relation in the beginning.
Now, the negatives:
1. Plot for the main characters was pretty good. But, the plot for the side characters seemed so lost.
2. Why is it that when Danielle said in one episode that Jang Nara is like her sister (sibling relation), and then goes ahead to propose to her? Is it Game of Thrones?!
3. Jang Hyuk lingering about his disease to Jang Nara for 3 years and wishing to keep her away just doesn't make sense. Simple go ahead and consult a doctor, together.
4. Se Ra and Danielle could have been used in such a nice manner. Actually, Danielle was used in a pretty good way. Appreciate it, but why so abrupt ending for his life. He found his old lost sister, and no surprise, no catching up, simply showing her the ice-cream power, and boom we are siblings! Meh?! Danielle is too less concerned for Se Ra as a sister, as he was for Jang Na Ra when he called her as "sibling" (Mind it, he proposed her later!)
Why this discrimination?!
Overall, the plot, which again is taken from Taiwanese original, is pretty good and intriguing. But, like most Kdramas, quite predictable, slow, and too much focus on side characters, yet too little patience to complete their storylines properly.
3.5 Stars for the Acting
0.5 Stars for the on-screen chemistry.
