This is my first Evanovich read. After seeing all the positive reviews of her work I decided to start with a more recent series. It feels like reading a Nancy Drew mystery novel. The reactions are shallow and anticipated, the story unfolds in a predictable manner with a few ridiculous and unrealistic moves on the part of the main character - ie: who would return to stay in their apartment after the bad guy and his whole entourage have your address, kill your neighbour and then try to kill you earlier in the day? Sure, just grab a pizza, settle down for dinner and discuss the case over a glass of wine. Or how about engaging in some amusing banter when your search party starts disappearing one by one while you’re in a dark and dangerous cave? …Not for me.
