To enjoy this series you have to suspend disbelief. I wish i liked the characters more, but there was just too much moody staring into the middle distance early in the series and and a great deal of climbing in and out of trapdoors when the action got going. Then there was the painted scenery and pointless running about in gloomy corridors. I was interested in the story but it was just too ponderous to be gripping and the perpetual semi darkness made recognising all the characters very challenging. Not for me this one.
