I had high hopes for this book and it was, on the whole, a good read. The author uses the autobiographical narrative to good effect, with switches between past and present time to keep it interesting. The description of The Loney and Moorings and the quaint (sinister) folk who live there enables the readers imagination to effortlessly see, feel and hear the elements of the story as it unfolds.
It’s The Wicker Man meets Oranges are not the Only Fruit in a way, but the ending sadly disappoints.
