Drawn out, disappointing and at times outright tedious. There has to be more than lengthy earthy shots of tractors and harvests and the somewhat unbelievable family togetherness ( in every room of the house, and under every tree in the orchard ). The cute children playing is wrung of every ounce of wonderment and naturalism - but where is it all going?..We are aware of the thrust of the movie in the first five minutes. No tension builds, no denouement , no character development and precious little dialogue beyond at times disjointed and somewhat hard to fathom cross-talking scenes between family members. The film is unstructured in a way which leaves me floundering, with sense of bewilderment about the purpose of this rather long homage to ruralism, and the loss of it.
I can’t understand the accolades this film has garnered.
