J.P. Patches was happy, silly, and a great way for kids of all ages to start their day before having to leave for school/whatever. Slapstick pranks, bad jokes and interesting guests were the mainstay of the program, but J.P. also played Jay Ward cartoons like Bullwinkle and George of the Jungle, usually introducing them by spinning the Cartoon Wheel attached to the door, but also from his hat or jacket. I was a Patches Pal from 1970 until I moved to Silicon Valley a couple months before the show ended.
