Refreshing take on a superhero movie! Good energy! Nice hints and teases for fans of the comics, but a solid story where it isn't necessary to know any backstory. Just enough violence and off color humor to earn PG-13. I probably would have gone with 4.5 if that was an option… I feel like one of the “villains” for the story ends up being a little 2D…? But only a little. And beyond that it would be all nitpicking. But on the whole, a lot of fun, a really strong cast, and a lot of heart. Glad that James Gunn has been saying Blue Beetle will have a place in the upcoming tv/movie DCU he’s been co-creating.
