I watched it at midnight. By the time the film finished, I checked the time and surprised to see it was 2.30 a.m. Time flies when you having a good time. The film was engaging, with great plot (the title of the movie and the trailers seems like an a misdirection by a magician before the big reveal) and well developed characters. There was no moment that pulled you out of the story and you stay engaged. All the actors and actresses in the film seems to really believe in the "there's no small role...." mantra. Everyone delivered. Even those with short screen time were able to craft a memorable performance. The efforts of everyone involved really showed and it worth watching in the big screen.
On Syafiq Yusof, he really has shown great growth over the years as a director. When I watched his earlier films (SAM, Abang Long Fadil, Misteri Dilaila, etc), it feels like those films are akin to student films. They were not perfect but showed great potential as something was improved with subsequent film. With last year Polis Evo 3, I believe he got his 'degree' and with this film he completed his 'Master'. Looking forward for his future 'PHD' project. He's a fellow film lover (based on where he draws his inspiration from this film) and he seems to be able to stay true to himself while creating something enjoyable for the masses.
